U.S. farmers and agribusiness leaders from across the country attended the U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council (USGBC) Board of Delegates Meeting held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the last week of July. During this event, Jay Reiners was elected as chairman of the Board of Directors for USGBC.

“As I begin my year of chairmanship, I am honored and grateful for the trust of the delegates of the U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council. Stepping into this role as chairman is a responsibility I don’t take lightly,” said Reiners. “I’ve seen the impact of the Council’s work up close, and I know how much it matters to farmers back home. This year, my focus is on strengthening the markets that matter most. Our farmers depend on strong export markets, and I’m committed to keeping that work moving forward: building relationships with buyers, opening new markets and making sure U.S. crops stay competitive on the world stage.”

Reiners is a retired farmer who grew corn and soybeans near Juniata, Nebraska. Now, Reiners is an agriculture consultant for various organizations. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and served in Nebraska’s Army National Guard. In 1992, Reiners’ Farms received the Aksarben’s Pioneer Farm Award. Reiners served on the Nebraska Corn Board as chairman and has served in leadership positions on the local, state and national levels, including U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council action teams.

“Jay’s election as chairman of the U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council is a reflection of the leadership and dedication he brings to this work, and Nebraska is fortunate to have a farmer of his caliber representing us on the international stage,” said Kelly Brunkhorst, executive director for the Nebraska Corn Board. “We thank him for his willingness to serve in this capacity, and we’re proud that he is helping guide an organization that delivers strong value to growers here and across the country.”

Reiner’s term began immediately following elections on July 31, 2026.
