NCB Recipient of NPPA 2010 Nebraska Outstanding Pork Service Award – Industry Outreach  Tim Scheer, NCB farmer director from St. Paul,  Neb. was on hand during the Nebraska Pork Producers Association (NPPA) Pork Industry Day and banquet to accept the 2010 Nebraska Outstanding Pork Service Award – Industry Outreach on behalf of the board.  The award is given annually to recognize exceptional work by an individual, company or organization that had advocated and supported the fundamental efforts of the Nebraska Pork Producers Association.  The award was presented by NPPA president Troy McCain.    

NCB Partners with NDA, Ag Relations Council During National Ag Week  The Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) showed support for farmers across the state during activities of National Ag Week.  NCB sponsored some gift certificates in cooperation with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) and also provided grant dollars to the Nebraska AgRelations Council for promotions during the week. 

NCB Continues Support of Blender Pumps, Grand Openings  The Nebraska Corn Board was present at the latest blender pump grand opening, at the Aurora Cooperative’s Grand Island location.  The blender pump was supported in part by a grant from the Nebraska Corn Board.  Aurora Coop will also be hosting a grand opening at their York location on April 5th.  For more information on possible grants, contact the office.

NCB Recognizes Individuals, Companies with Annual Awards  The Nebraska Corn Board recognized individuals and companies during the recent Awards and Cooperator Banquet.  Those recognized included:

                Dale Hayek, Farmers Cooperative – Elevator Industry Appreciation Award

                Prairieland Dairy – Livestock Industry Appreciation Award

                Chuck Woodside, KAAPA – Ethanol Industry Appreciation Award

                Ken Anderson, Brownfield Network – Media Appreciation Award

                Ralph Holzfaster – Ag Achievement Award

  • According to the USDA, National Ag Statistics Service, Nebraska farmers intend to plant 9.5 million acres of corn, the most since 1933.
