Harvest 30% Ahead of Average

Corn harvested is reported 97% complete which is well ahead of 83 % last year and even farther ahead than the 64% average. Although some farmers in western counties are struggling to harvest lodged crops due to the high winds that were present in mid-October. Soil temperatures in most areas averaged below 50 degrees so anhydrous applications have begun while fall field work continues.

Average temperatures varied across the state from the east being 2 degrees below normal to the 7 degrees above normal in the panhandle. High’s ranged in the 60’s to 70’s and lows dropped all the way into the mid 20’s.
